This winter transfer window is always a period of intense speculation and possible major transfers. Several notable stars are being linked with transfers away from their present clubs. We examine a selection of the top names that might be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' inability to reach the AFCON, this has kept the forward in contention, indications are a significant transfer is imminent. Bournemouth appear to be at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an interest.

Rúben Neves

This Portugal playmaker might be set for a comeback to the English top flight following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still only 28, while his contract expiring in the summer, he is a possible opportunity. Teams like Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there have been suggestions from Spain that he would be willing to accept a reduced salary for a move to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran Germany goalkeeper finds himself as third-choice at Barça following the manager Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone an operation, a January departure seems increasingly probable. Aston Villa were once linked as a possible suitor, but that move now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

The prolific England striker has continued finding the net frequently in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his fading chances of being in the national World Cup. However, securing a transfer poses significant challenges. His current club do not wish to sell him, and his alleged enormous salary render any move complicated. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton are all mentioned as interested parties.

H. Elliott

Despite excelling and winning the best player award at the U21 Euros in the summer, this talented player has struggled for minutes on loan at Aston Villa. Because of FIFA regulations regarding representing two clubs in a campaign, a return to Liverpool prior to next summer appears to be the sole available solution.

Kenan Yildiz

The exciting Turkish forward is in excellent form for Juventus this term. As his current deal nearing its end, many English sides – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the developments. The Turin club are desperate to secure the youngster to a new long-term agreement but face a race to keep one of Europe's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

The much-admired Dutch midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. After starring at the U19 Euros, Smit has become a regular in the AZ side. The teenager is widely expected to complete a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing stiff competition from Real Madrid for a signing priced at around £22 million.
